Theory no. 73

We are often asked, “What is theory number seventy three”? In short, it is the next after Theory 72 in our series of theories, some of which have been proven, some disproved and others unsolved or perhaps unanswerable. More importantly, our 73rd theory, is that the number “73” itself is actually the best number and therefore since “the best”, is subjective in this case, can only be a theory. We consider the number 73 to be the best number due to the following facts. It is a permutable prime, also known as anagrammatic prime, which is a prime number that in a given base, can have its digits’ positions switched through any permutation and still be a prime number.  The number 73 is the 21st prime number and its permutation “37”, is the 12th prime number which is the permutation of 21. Within at least the first 100,000 prime numbers, the 37:73 pair is unique with respect to this permutation quality. The number 73 represented in binary is 1001001 which is a palindrome ( same forward and backwards) as is the binary representation of 21 which is 10101. Both 7 and 3 are also prime numbers. As a side note, our theory number 71 is that the sentence, ” a man a plan a cat a ham a yak a yam a hat a canal panama” is the best palindrome. The number 73 represented upside down is EL which translates to at least a half-dozen things in different languages but is typically used to describe “the one” as in “El Capitan”. Another tip of the hat to the 21st prime is that when 7 and 3 are multiplied you get 21. In amateur radio and Morse Code, “73” is typically used as “best regards”.

73 to you!

The Logo – A well thought-out symbol

Looking closely at the number 73 in the corporate logo, one can see that it is made up of three distinct 7’s. This is to represent the fact that “73” is the 21st prime number. The wing at the top represents aircraft and aerospace which is a key interest of the corporation and elemental in the experience of the principals. The arrow around the blue circle represents launching a vehicle into a realm, whether that be the air, space or an amusement attraction. The dashed line tracing that vehicle’s path, contains three long segments (including the wing) and 2 sets of short segments. If “1’s” are substituted for the long segments and “0’s” are substituted for each short segment, the result is the palindromic binary number 1001001, which is 73 in decimal. The shadow of the circle represents our work with 3-D modeling and stereoscopic vision systems. It is blue for Blue Ocean and Blue Sky.
